On Sacred and Profane

Once a year, a quiet and secluded village in the north-western part of Lithuania comes alive to celebrate Catholic Easter, doing it's best to preserve the vanishing ancient tradition of the Guardians of the Cross. With subtle humor and respect for the local community, the filmmakers observe the village community's preparations for the Easter Vigil and take the viewer into the special atmosphere of Easter night. The film provokes reflections on the coexistence of the sacred and the secular in the modern world.
