The Cassandra Cat
Kasandras kaķis
People arrive in a small village with a strange cat wearing glasses. When someone takes them off, he can color people, according to their nature and mood. Adults consider him dangerous; children love him.
Ahead of its time in experimenting with stylized color and extended political metaphor, The Cassandra Cat is director Vojtěch Jasný's triumphant excursion into fantasy as a mirror of real-life social divisions and hypocrisies.
The current season of Cinema Classics till May is dedicated to Czechoslovak New Wave. Each month one of the programmes films will have three screenings with subtitles in Latvian and English. Some of the screenings will be accompanied by introductions and lectures.
