The Freeride Film Festival (FFF) enters a new round in 2026 (edition No. 17) and presents six films that tell of the extremes of life in the mountains. From existential moments under snow and wind to quiet stories about friendship, origin, and what remains in the end. Between an avalanche on the Norwegian coast and a sailing trip through Icelandic fjords, between Japanese drumming in the Canadian wilderness and a snowboarder retelling his life, between a Swiss snowboarder searching for her connection to the frozen world all the way down to sea level, the 2026 films tell above all of one thing: the moment when you stop trying to control nature and start moving with it.

What connects the six films is this letting go of control – whether inside an avalanche, aboard a sailboat in the wind, or in a fjord village racing against time. And almost always, this surrender is not a solitary act, but carried by friendship, partnership, or community. In doing so, the FFF once again spans the range between visually poetic arthouse productions, documentary authenticity, and classic big-mountain action – always with the ambition of opening up new perspectives on life in the mountains.
