PROGRAMME
DYNAMICS
Dir. Teo Baehler, NL, 14 min.
DYNAMICS (Frozen Movements) is an experimental, dreamy and surreal stop-motion film, created using everyday materials. The film offers a visual reflection on transformations that emerge through the intuitive blending of dissimilar elements. The result is a non-narrative art film where fantasy, form and texture merge into a sensory experience. This short animation invites viewers to surrender to a world where logic gives way to atmosphere and intuition. The hypnotic soundscape enhances the avant-garde character of the film and leaves plenty of room for personal interpretation.
POCKET MONEY
Dir. Matteo Sanders, AT, 16 min.
At the end of his shift, bus driver Stefan discovers a bag containing 32,000 euros. His office is unavailable, so he decides to hand the money in to the police. But on the way there, he is confronted with his own problems and doubts arise. The longer he has the bag with him, the deeper he maneuvers himself into an inner conflict. Should he really hand over the money?
A PERFECT NIGHT
Dir. Angelo Raaijmakers, NL, 19 min.
To celebrate his promotion to senior police officer, Nordin and his girlfriend Luna try to bake ‘a perfect cake, for a perfect night’. What starts as a fun and affectionate activity slowly changes into a toxic cycle of emotional and physical abuse, in which the two struggle with their boundaries and self-control.
L'oro della lama
Dir. Francesco Carlo Lorenzini, IT, 19 min.
Gianni has decided to leave from the place where he grew up, in the Alps, to build a future elsewhere. Before leaving, however, he must find the strength to talk to his brother Carlo and explain to him the reason for his departure. They decide to spend a few days in the old mountain cabin, where they grew up and where they keep their most beautiful memories.
TEST
Dir. Markus Johansson, SE, 11min.
A normal day at the Swedish Transport Administration. Another mediocre, hopeful student enters the car to take their driving test. It's going to be a long day.
THE STONE PUTTER
SE, 8 min.
The Stone Putter is a cinematic portrait of a serious and physically strong middle-aged woman, deeply focused on throwing stones in a desert-like landscape. How did she get here? What do the stones symbolize – as alien in the landscape as the woman herself in her black dress? Here you can sense a story about both sadness, integrity and stubbornness, about intersecting paths and about continuing forward without bowing to others. Both the stones and the woman are filmed from a variety of angles, giving the viewer an opportunity to experience the event from different perspectives, and for a moment possibly drop the anthropocentric gaze.
DARKNESS ALL AROUND
SK, 15 min.
The war in Ukraine goes on. During the winter, its capital Kyiv is turned into a city of shadows and silhouettes. The shelling of energy targets has absurdly transferred the war from the trenches to ordinary households, and people are trying to adapt to life in the dark. However, once the smog has worn off and the stars shine brighter, new research opportunities open up for astronomers.
