I'm Not Everything I Want to Be
Es neesmu viss, kas vēlos būt
In 1968 Czechoslovakia, 16-year-old Libuše Jarcovjáková, with her short hair and black-and-white camera, navigates the repressive ‘normalisation’ following the Prague Spring. Rejected from art school for not being "working class enough," she befriends outcasts from a printing factory, the Roma community, Vietnamese migrants, and the T-Club, a queer underground bar in Prague. Struggling with sobriety and self-identity, she documents her world through photos and diaries, capturing her journey from Czechoslovakia to Berlin and Tokyo. "I’m Not Everything I Want to Be" weaves a story of art as a space for freedom, told through Libuše’s own images and notes.
