RPFF industry: Lecture "Reaching Audiences with Documentary Films"

Since its inception Restart Label, Croatia’s only dedicated distributor of documentary films, has brought over 120 powerful stories to screens across the former Yugoslavia, working hand-in-hand with more than 50 regional festivals and building bridges through the Balkan Documentary Distribution Network (BDDN). As the Croatian coordinator of KineDok, it takes films on the road into unexpected, intimate spaces where new audiences discover the magic of documentary cinema.  And for those who want great docs at their fingertips, Restart created volimdokumentarce.net, a rich online platform offering more than 190 titles, along with exclusive filmmaker interviews and masterclasses. 

But what truly lies at the heart of these efforts, and is reaching diverse audiences really as effortless as it appears on the surface? This presentation and discussion will delve into both the success stories and the underlying challenges, offering a look at the complexities of documentary distribution and audience engagement.
