The programme "Transformations" deals with short films that focus strongly on modern human life and its consequences, on the detritus it produces, and on nature. These films are about meeting our world eye to eye. We look at landscapes, natural and man-made, at the things in those landscapes regardless of whether they are trash or forest. Sometimes we don’t recognise everything, but we do understand that it is life – life in miniature, life in close-up, life as the result of looking closely.

PROGRAMME:

UNA PLAZA EN CUBA
Joana Claude, BR, 8 min.

From the desire to maintain contact with people outside the island, the trips to the square are born. From this daily movement, a reflection about the reality woven between the physical and the virtual body emerges.

EYE TO EYE
Siri Linn Brandsøy, Lasse Huldt Pedersen, NO, 24 min.

We make eye contact with other people all the time, but rarely with other species. This poetic nature documentary takes us on a journey from the Norwegian west coast to the boreal forest in the east. Through intimate moments and exchanged glances it draws us into a sensuous and more-than-human world where there is an unspoken language that seeps out of the terrain.

THE CURRENCY - SENSING 1 AGBOGBLSOHIE
Elom 20ce, Musquiqui Chihying, Gregor Kasper, DE, 17 min.

A landscape of electronic equipment leftovers, embedded in biting clouds of smoke, burnt earth and dirty water. In Agbogbloshie - one of the world's largest e-waste recycling sites in the middle of Accra - they were dismantled and burnt in order to return their metals to the industrial recycling cycles. In between, an observer who, by means of acoustic field research, investigates this place as a contact zone of complex global economic, social, power-political and technological processes and questions this from a spiritual perspective.

WE MARRY YOU, O SEA AS A SIGN OF TRUE AND PERPETUAL DOMINION
Sonia Levy, UK, 20 min.

"We Marry You, O Sea, as a Sign of True and Perpetual Dominion" is a cinematic inquiry "from below", descending into the submerged, silted Lagoon of Venice. The film reveals rarely-seen archival images documenting the city's industrial metamorphosis.

Submerged perspectives introduce new knowledge dimensions, fostering reflection and challenging dominant historiographical approaches that typically start above the water's surface. An original score, composed of human voices and underwater sound recordings, further emphasises the profound interplay between human activities and the Lagoon's shallows.
